Oleander has decided to source and republish a series of classic crime novels, largely from the Golden Age of detective fiction, faithfully transcribed, re-set and reprinted under the series name London Bound - due, unsurprisingly, to their all being set in the nation's capital. Selection of the titles has not been down to specific criteria but more to their being well-regarded examples of this particularly evocative style of historic crime fiction from an era when such fiction performed a reassuring and rewarding function in society; our selection have since gone out of print and are no longer available.
The Series Editor is Richard Reynolds, Chair of the CWA Gold Dagger judging panel and crime specialist at the world-famous Heffers Bookshop in Cambridge. Period-style covers for each have been designed from scratch.
First out was The Charing Cross Mystery on the 25th February. Then The Doctor of Pimlico by Le Queux, Christopher St John's Sprigg's Fatality in Fleet Street is out after that - to be followed by Henry Holt's The Mayfair Mystery, Bloodshed in Bayswater and The Paddington Mystery. Further titles to be confirmed. All titles are held in stock at Heffers, Cambridge, if you're in the area.
